Automatic People Search

When you create a new person in a Family Connections, be sure to enter any information you know about that person - even old contact information. Family Connections will automatically perform a search using another tool called People Search. This search happens in the background each time you edit a person.

You will know that the automatic search has found a match when the People Search icon (dark blue circle - see below) appears over the bottom right of a person in the tree.

Click the dark blue circle icon to view the People Search results.

You will see all of the information that matches the Connections details you entered when creating them.

Import from People Search

The People Search window offers you the option to automatically import some or all data from the search results. These include the person's picture, residences, telephone number, emails, and social media profiles.

  • Check checkboxes next to data to be imported

  • Existing items can not be unchecked

  • Use the 'Select All' options to select many at once

  • Click the 'Import' button to import the data into the persons profile

Once you have clicked Import the information will appear on the persons profile like the example below.

Let's see some more examples on how this works when doing a Manual People Search.

Manual People Search

  • Click on a case

  • Click on a person in the case

  • Click the 'Search' tab

  • Click the 'People Search' icon in the upper left, under "Free"

  • Choose a person in the results, or click cancel

If you have less information and details on the profile, when you manually use People Search it may populate fewer results, especially if the name is very common - like John Smith in this example.

You can hover over each name to see more information like Phone Number, Email, Address, Location to help narrow down your search to find the right match.

Just like in the Automatic People Search

  • Checkboxes next to the data to be imported

  • Existing items can not be unchecked

  • Use the 'Select All' options to select many at once

  • Click the 'Import' button to import the data into the persons profile

After you have imported the details you can go back to edit the profile at anytime by clicking the pencil icon in the upper right. Or by clicking Details, and then the "Edit Details" button at the bottom.

You will see all of the information you imported, if you selected all you will see multiple addresses, phone numbers, or emails. You have the option to hide, remove, or mark as verified.
