Today, you have a few options if you want to duplicate a workspace.

Within a single case:

  • Duplicate workspace with all people/placeholders filled out as-is

  • Copy just the layout of the workspace without placeholders filled in

From one case to another:

  • Utilize our import/export features (This will take a bit more work)

Please see details on each option below.

Within a case

Option 1: Duplicate workspace with all people/placeholders filled out as-is

Step 1:

The easiest way to do this would be to create a new workspace by clicking on the current workspace name in the top left corner of the screen and clicking "add workspace" as seen below.

Step 2:

Scroll to the bottom of the template list to see a section called "copy existing workspace", select the workspace that you are looking to take that section from.

Step 3:

Type in a workspace name and click "Create New Workspace" as you normally would.

This will create a duplicate workspace that will include any people/placeholders existing on the original workspace. From there, you can also remove any people you do not want to include in your duplicate workspace.

Option 2: Copy just the layout of the workspace without placeholders filled in

To do this, you will want to 'copy & paste' your workspace layout from one workspace to another, as if you were copying and pasting text.

Step 1:

On your keyboard, hold "Ctrl C" (or command C for mac) to copy this layout. You will then want to navigate to your next worksheet by clicking on the name of the current worksheet in the top left corner of your screen and then selecting an existing workspace or adding a new one.

Step 3:
In the new worksheet, hold "Ctrl V" (or command V for mac) on your keyboard and this will paste only the layout of your previous worksheet- your placeholders will not be filled in (see below)

From one case to another

You can use our export and import features to functionally "copy" people from one case to another.

Step 1:

Export your original case. You can read about how to export here.

Once you export the case, you will receive an excel spreadsheet with all the people in the case. The Excel file will need a bit of tweaking before being imported, as the Import feature needs a single sheet Excel file, not the multiple sheets that the Export will initially give you.

Step 2:
Import that excel sheet to the next case. You can read about how to import here.

Optional Step 3:
Recreate your workspace(s)- Please note, genograms are exported as pdf's, so they will have to be recreated in the 2nd sibling's case in order to be "live." You can use the people you have imported to quickly place them into the correct placeholders of your desired template/workspace.
